Kindergarten Girls Counselors

Brianna L., GKA

Brianna is a 2014 University of Vermont graduate. She majored in Secondary Education-English. Currently, she is working at The Churchill School and Center in Manhattan where she is a sixth grade English teacher. In her spare time, Brianna likes to read books, cook and be active. She worked at Elmwood for five summers from 2010 – 2015, took a brief hiatus, and is now back for her second year since that hiatus. She is most looking forward to swimming.

Julia Z., GKA

Julia will begin her sophomore year at Cornell University in the fall where she will continue to study Policy Analysis and Management. Julia attended Camp Chipinaw for eight years before working there as a counselor for two, and her favorite activities were tubing and cooking. She enjoys running and hiking outside and is excited to spend another summer outdoors. During the school year, Julia is involved in many on-campus organizations and clubs, such as the Cornell Political Union and Sigma Delta Tau, as well as a club soccer team. Julia is very excited to be working at Elmwood and to be continuing her camp career!

Nya S., GKA

Nya is very outgoing, funny and intelligent. She absolutely loves to sing and has been in four musicals. She loves to read all sorts of books in her free time, however, she particularly enjoys reading realistic fiction, horror and comedy. This is Nya’s first year working at Elmwood and she is very excited to make new memories and meet many different people.

Brittany H., GKB

Brittany is a rising college senior majoring in public health with the intention of becoming a sports physical therapist. She loves to dance, learn new things and read. Brittany first came to Elmwood last year because she felt it would give her an amazing opportunity to bond with children as well learn more about responsibility as a young adult. She had a great summer last year and couldn’t wait to return this year. Children are so much fun to be around and they’re the ones who make the world a better place!

Francesca F., GKB

Francesca has completed her Bachelor’s in English and Economics at UCONN and will be attending law school in the fall. In her spare time, she likes to ballroom dance competitively. Although she has not personally attended camp as a kid, she feels right at home with her Elmwood family. As a second-time counselor at Elmwood, she is looking forward to seeing her campers have fun and be themselves.

Olivia G., GKB

After four years as a camper at Elmwood, and eight years as a camper at Lake Bryn Mawr, Olivia is now returning to Elmwood for her second summer as a counselor. Olivia enjoys volunteering at her local childcare center and being a part of a community service organization called JTeen Leadership. She just graduated from Horace Greeley High School and will be attending Muhlenberg College in the fall. Olivia is so excited to play with her campers, and she can’t wait to be back at Elmwood!

Miranda K., GKC

Miranda is very excited for her fourth summer at Elmwood! In May, Miranda graduated from Bank Street College of Education with her master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. During the year, she teaches preschool in New York City. As a child, Miranda went to Asphalt Green Summer Day Camp in Manhattan and was also a counselor there for six summers. In her spare time, she loves to be with friends and family and watch cooking shows. Miranda’s favorite part of the year is camp season, and she counts down the days all year. She can’t wait for all the fun theme days at camp and to meet her new campers!

Raven C., GKC

Raven is finishing up her junior year at KIPP NYC College Prep. She is a member of her school’s dance team, Ambush Dance Crew, and has participated in multiple musicals such as, In The Heights, Little Shop of Horrors, Hairspray, and most recently, Rent. Raven would describe herself as outgoing, lighthearted, and curious because she likes to keep herself busy and loves interacting with people. She is excited to work at Elmwood this summer because she thinks it will be a great opportunity to gain a true working experience and to have a lot of fun during her last summer of high school. She feels like her youthful manner and joyful attitude will help her as she works with younger children. She’s really looking forward to meeting the rest of the staff and to build a bond with everyone to make for a memorable summer.

Sydnie H., GKC

Sydnie is so excited to work her first summer at Elmwood. She was a camper at Elmwood years ago. She currently attends Elon University in North Carolina and is studying Elementary and Special Education. In her free time, she loves to play softball and paint. She is very excited to meet her campers and make new friends! A fun fact about her is that she loves to learn American Sign Language!

Kindergarten Boys Counselors

Angel O., BKA

Angel is excited to start his first summer at Elmwood Day Camp. He is most looking forward to swimming in the summer and teaching the kids how to swim. As a rising senior at KIPP NYC College Prep, he is looking forward to working with kids outside of his community, and working with your children! Once he graduates, he wants to seek a career in law enforcement. This program will help him socialize more with people of all ages which is a very necessary skill for law enforcement.

Elizabeth M., BKA

Elizabeth is very excited to return to Elmwood for a second summer as she has many fond memories of her own sleep away camp experience. During the year, Elizabeth works in the front gate house in Elmwood. In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys painting, photography, and watching movies. She is also a huge animal lover and considers herself an “animal whisperer”. Elizabeth is most looking forward to connecting to campers and staff in the way she remembers doing when she attended sleep away camp.

Noah Be., BKA

Noah is a rising second year business student at Northeastern University. He just returned from a study abroad trip in London where he filmed a documentary about British Hip Hop music. Noah attended URJ Eisner Camp as a kid and is looking forward to finding a similar family-like community at Elmwood. As for hobbies aside from film making, Noah loves painting and is a big basketball fan. Most importantly, Noah is super excited to meet all of his campers and make this summer one to remember!

Josh A., BKB

Josh graduated from Solomon Schechter Westchester and just finished his Freshmen year at Muhlenberg College. He is very excited to be returning as a counselor for his third summer at Elmwood. Previously, Josh spent all of his summers at Camp Walt Whitman in New Hampshire. In his spare time, Josh enjoys participating in theatre productions. He has performed in 19 productions total at The Play Group Theatre in White Plains and has been involved in three productions so far at Muhlenberg. Josh also serves as the Vice President of Live in Color, Muhlenberg College’s only show choir group. Additionally, Josh is the Social Media Specialist on the Muhlenberg Hillel Board. Lastly, he is a Campus Delegate and volunteers at a weekly art day program for third through fifth graders at a local elementary school. Camp is Josh’s favorite place to be, so he cannot wait to have another amazing summer working at Elmwood.

Kiera B., BKB

Camp has always been a part of Kiera’s life. She attended Peekskill Day Camp all thoughout her childhood and then went on to work at a sleep away camp, Camp Cayuga, in the Pocono Mountains. When Kiera isn’t working at a camp, she is always planning her next trip somewhere in the world or hanging out with family. Kiera has her Bachelor’s of Science from Kent State University where she studied Public Health with a concentration in clinical trial research. She is looking forward to working in a fun and encouraging environment where kids are allowed to express themselves and have fun all at the same time!

Madeline T., BKB

This is Madeline’s first year joining Elmwood. She is a sophomore at the University of Delaware with a communication major and theatre performance minor. She loves performing on stage, painting, swimming, diving, and baking. Madeline’s favorite camp activity is swimming because she spent her childhood summers being a part of a swim and dive team. She is a fun-loving, driven, and creative girl who is looking forward to being a part of the Elmwood family. A fun fact about Madeline is that her favorite thing to bake is strawberry rhubarb pie. Madeline can’t wait to meet the campers and have an amazing summer with Elmwood.

Carolyn B., BKC

Carolyn is ecstatic to be returning to Elmwood as a counselor for third year after spending many summers there as a camper. Carolyn graduated from Ardsley High School in 2018 and just finished her Freshman year at NYU, where she studies Early Childhood Special Education and Theatre. She spent much of her first year performing on and off campus and even had the honor of representing NYU at FutureFest, a showcase in which young talent performs songs from new up and coming musicals. Additionally, Carolyn acted as the Assistant Stage Manager/Choreographer for NYU’s first musical collective, Matilda, in which children from the NYC/NJ area got to partake in a professional theatre experience alongside NYU undergraduate and graduate students for free. Carolyn is so excited to return to Elmwood for another incredible summer and cannot wait to get to know all her new campers!

Ari K., BKC

Ari just recently graduated from the Eagle Hill School in Massachusetts. As a child, Ari attended Camp Hillard as well as Camp Starlight, a sleep away camp in Wayne County Pennsylvania. During his free time, Ari likes to play soccer, tennis, and Xbox. He also loves to ski and snowboard in the winter. Ari is really looking forward to getting to know the campers and is looking forward to playing sports and other activities with them. His favorite sports teams are the Giants, Yankees, Rangers and the Knicks.

Carina V., BKC

During the school year, Carina works as a teacher’s aide in Scarsdale at Edgewood elementary school. She is also currently attending Long Island University (LIU), receiving her Master’s in Childhood Education (1-6) and Literacy (B-6). As a child, Carina was always a camp goer. She went to the Town of Mount Pleasant recreation camps. She enjoys being active and plays softball and volleyball any chance she gets. Carina loves children and is looking forward to teaching them and making sure that this summer is their best yet! She can’t wait to return back to Elmwood for her second summer and meet all her new campers and experience the fun at Elmwood!
