After four years of being a camper at Elmwood, and eight years of sleep away camp at Point O’ Pines Camp, Alex is so excited for her first summer as a counselor! Alex loves to be active outside, and especially loves playing soccer. She is so excited to meet all the campers and have an unforgettable summer!
Allie J., SS3A&B
Allie is very excited to return for a fifth year at Elmwood, though it will be her first as a counselor. She attended Elmwood as a camper and can’t wait to finally be back at camp as a staff member!! She will be a senior in the fall at Hastings High School. In her spare time, Allie loves to be outdoors hiking, kayaking, and swimming. She also volunteers at an after school program for elementary schoolers and at Gigi’s playhouse (a center for kids with Down’s). Allie is looking forward to this summer and is thrilled to be a part of the Elmwood family again.
Hayley B., SS3A&B
Hayley is currently a fifth-grade teacher for the NYCDOE. While she is new to Elmwood, she is not new to the camp world. Hayley spent most of her summers growing up at camp, where she experienced both being a camper and a counselor. Hayley knew at a young age that she wanted to spend the rest of her life working with kids. She loves being outside and playing sports, and she is looking forward to meeting all of her campers. Hayley can’t wait to spend an incredible summer at Elmwood!
Olivia M., SS3A&B
Olivia is entering her senior year at Horace Greeley High School. She went to Camp Hillard up until the third grade. Afterwards, she attended Camp Fernwood for seven summers. In her free time, Olivia loves to practice photography, spend time with her golden retriever, and go to the movies. She is looking forward to getting to know the campers and taking photos of them.

Jenna F., MD4A&B
Jenna loves to have fun anywhere she goes. She just finished her freshman year at DeSales University in Pennsylvania where she is majoring in dance and minoring in early childhood education. When she is not dancing, she is most likely with her friends or family! Jenna is so excited for her third summer at Elmwood and all the fun and laughs that are to come!!
Julia L., MD4A&B
Julia is thrilled to be spending her third summer at Elmwood as a counselor. Julia grew up in Edgemont and just finished her freshman year at Elon University. She loves playing tennis and watching movies. Julia went to Elmwood for many summers and absolutely loves being a counselor. She can’t wait to meet all of her campers and make amazing memories.
Madelyn R., MD4A&B
Maddi is a theater artist, teacher and amateur wildflower enthusiast from Northern California. After some bouncing between states, she finally found herself in New York City last fall and is so excited to join Elmwood Day Camp this summer for some much-needed time in the sun! In the past, she has directed and stage-managed children’s theater productions, taught voice and movement for stage to young actors, and collaborated on theater productions with incarcerated youth in Santa Barbara County. She received her MFA in Performance from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado and her BFA in Acting from UC Santa Barbara. Maddi can’t wait to lead this year’s 4’s as they learn and explore together at Elmwood!
Rachel M., MD4A&B
Rachel is very excited to be a counselor at Elmwood this summer. She has spent the past seven years attending Surprise Lake Camp, in Cold Spring, NY. She just finished her junior year at Hastings-On-Hudson High School. Rachel enjoys swimming, gymnastics, and baking. Her favorite camp activity is going to the pool, and she is excited to swim and have fun with all of her campers! Rachel can’t wait for it to be summer so she can meet all of the incredible kids here at Elmwood Day Camp.
Tiye M., MD4A&B
Tiye is currently a senior at Thorton High School in Mount Vernon NY. She will be attending college at Suny Delhi in the fall where she will be majoring in Business and Accounting. One of Tiye’s favorite interests is the Asian culture and she is a big fan of Japanese Anime. Her favorite K-pop musical group is BTS. Tiye is looking forward to working with kids this summer and is excited to meet both new staff and campers! Tiye is extremely kind, helpful and a joy to be around. Her biggest dream is to one day visit Japan and Korea.
Elana H., SS4A
Elana just recently graduated from SUNY Oneonta with a degree in Sociology. Elana loves working with children! Prior to joining the Elmwood staff, Camp Echo Lake was her summer home for seven years. Elana is looking forward to returning to Elmwood for her sixth summer and meeting all her campers. It’s going to be a great summer!
Natalie D., SS4A
Natalie just finished her senior year at Irvington High School where she played on the varsity softball team and also kept the stat book for the varsity wrestling team. In her free time, Natalie enjoys hands on activities, such as baking and arts & crafts. She is looking forward to returning back to Elmwood for a second summer and is excited to get back to a camp community, having attended day camp in Chester, NY with her brother. She is most looking forward to helping her campers create meaningful experiences during their time at Elmwood. A fun fact about Natalie is that she was a Girl Scout for eleven years and completed her Silver Award!
Sarah B., SS4A
Sarah just finished her junior year at Edgemont High School, and is excited to be a senior in the fall! Although new to the Elmwood staff, Sarah grew up attending both Elmwood Day Camp and Elmwood Day School for many years. Sarah enjoys playing guitar and singing, and loves to paint and draw. In her spare time, she volunteers with students who have special needs in her High School. She loves to travel, learn and try new things. Sarah can’t wait to be back at Elmwood, and is so excited to meet all of her new campers. She can’t wait to help them love camp as much as she did as a child!
Leah A., SS4B
Leah is a rising junior at Tulane University where she majors in Psychology and Early Childhood Education with hopes of becoming a speech-language pathologist or child psychologist. Ever since she was young, she’s had a strong passion for spending time with children. Leah is looking forward to helping her campers realize their highest potential and making a lasting impact on their childhood. She is thrilled to get to know all of the fantastic campers at Elmwood and have a summer full of laughs, adventure, and memories.
Lisbeth M., SS4B
Starting late August, Lisbeth will be starting her grad studies at Lehman College majoring in Early Childhood bilingual Education. This will be her first summer at Elmwood, and she is extremely excited about spending her summer here. She admires the mission and appreciates the warmth offered by all of Elmwood’s staff. She can’t wait to meet all of her campers and share this warmth with them. Three words that would best describe her are loving, caring and energetic.

Rachel is a rising junior at Hamilton College where she studies Public Policy and Education. At school she teaches, tutors, and works on local government campaigns. She was an Elmwood camper for five summers and is excited to be back for her third summer as a counselor! She loves to have fun, be silly, and meet new people and is especially excited to meet and get to know her campers this summer.
Abby Z., SS4C
This is Abby’s second summer working at Elmwood. She just completed her Freshman year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall where she is majoring in dance and psychology. When Abby was younger, she went to Edgemont Day Camp and then to Camp Wayne for seven summers. She loves working with kids as well as being active outside, so is so excited to be back at Elmwood for another fun-filled summer where she can do both of these things! She can’t wait to meet all the new campers, see all the returning campers, and have an amazing eight weeks!
Kathy B., SS4C
Kathy is looking forward to returning to Elmwood this summer for her fourth year! During the year, she works at Edgewood School in Scarsdale and is also pursuing her Master’s Degree in Bilingual School Psychology at Long Island University. During her free time, she enjoys going to the beach and trying new “foodie” places.
Shea B., SS4C
Shea was born in Summerville, SC, but has been a resident of New York City for eight years now. She attends school at KIPP NYC College Prep, and hopes to study Early Childhood Education and Psychology at Spelman College. During her free time, she is a varsity cheerleader and a member of the Fairness Committee, which is a restorative justice program at her school, to better the disciplinary system. She is so excited to work at Elmwood this summer and meet all of the campers, as working with children is truly a passion that she hopes to pursue a career in.
