More Than a Summer Job: Where Staff Work Hard and Play Together

At Elmwood, our campers are the heart of what we do, and our staff community is the soul.

Working here is much more than a paycheck or a line on a resume—it’s a chance to be part of a community that values your individuality just as much as your hard work. We believe that when you feel seen, supported, and connected, you bring your very best self to your campers.

That’s where Staff Rec comes in.

Camp days are high-energy, high-impact, and—let’s be honest—beautifully exhausting. Our staff pour their energy into leading activities, supporting campers, solving problems, celebrating victories, and creating magical moments all day long. Because of that, it’s important to us that they also have time to relax, connect, and have fun with one another outside of the camp day.

Our Staff Rec program is designed to give our team a chance to step out of their staff role and simply enjoy being together. Once a week, staff can choose to stay after camp for social activities that help them unwind, laugh, and build friendships that often last well beyond the summer. These evenings bring the same spirit of fun and community that our campers experience every day—only this time, it’s for the staff.

What Does Staff Rec Look Like?

Whether you’re looking to be active or simply spend time with friends, there’s something for everyone:

  • The Big Games: Soccer tournaments and legendary Staff Olympics 🏆

  • The Chill Vibes: Paint nights and relaxed sunset picnics on the field 🎨

  • The Spotlight: Open Mic Night (showcasing hidden talents) and trivia competitions 🎤

  • The Tradition: Our end-of-summer banquet to celebrate everything we’ve accomplished 🎉

Why the Social Side Matters

We know that shared joy builds the strongest teams. When you’ve played a game of softball or shared pizza during a tie-dye night, you return the next day more connected. You’re not just colleagues—you’re a support system.

An Elmwood summer is one you will never forget. You’ll develop leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills that will stay with you long after camp ends—but just as importantly, you’ll find a place where you truly belong. 💚
