Five days of sunshine, tons of laughter, silliness everywhere, hugging, celebrating, learning and Carnival…

WEEK SEVEN WAS THE BEST WEEK YET!

The week started out with Orange You Glad it’s Monday? The entire camp was dressed in Orange. There were orange shirts, socks, shorts and hats. We even had oranges at lunch!

Upper Village Bowl was on Tuesday and Wednesday. It is an intense two days of competition filled with spirit, hard work, perseverance and sportsmanship. This year’s events were trivia, water balloon games, Robin’s Nest, Soccer Shootout, Fishbowl Soccer, an art challenge, and an archery challenge. The finale was the cheer off. While the Blue Team is the champion, every team had the time of their lives. Congratulations to every Upper Village community member!

We were thrilled to welcome seventh graders back at camp for the last two weeks of the summer since many of them were not able to be with us in 2020. This week, they went Kayaking, played games with Allie, Hillari and Gregg and have been working on a legacy arts and crafts project. They are creating a bench with will be part of Elmwood for many years to come.

There is no doubt that Carnival 2021 was the best Carnival in Elmwood’s history. This year’s rides were Dizzy X, Giant Swings, an awesome obstacle course, a horse race, several bounce castles and a climbing wall. Carnival games included a ring ross, candle shoot, haystack, wheel of fortune, and many more. There were favorite traditions like spin art, candy guess and tattoos. We had awesome hot pretzels and cotton candy ice cream bars. There was music playing all day, and it was a day filled with pure joy!

On Friday, we had our annual Project Morry Walk-A-Thon. Project Morry is a non-profit that is very important the entire Elmwood community. It is a year-round youth development organization anchored by a wonderful summer camp experience for underserved children. Our campers took thousands of steps throughout the day and discussed why all children deserve to go to camp. If you have not yet donated, we encourage you to do so by clicking here.

We are very excited about our final week of camp and all the ways that campers and staff will make their mark on our community.

We cannot wait to see everyone tomorrow.
